Victoria Beckham’s Wedding Day Tiara Is Up for Auction

In 1999, the wedding of then-Spice Girl Victoria Adams and star footballer David Beckham was the British social event of the year. The couple’s son Brooklyn was the ring-bearer at the nearly $900,000 ceremony and reception in Ireland, and before the official spread appeared in OK! magazine, images leaked of Victoria and David sitting astride golden thrones.

On her head that day, Victoria wore this golden coronet—an 18-karat yellow-gold crown set with large brilliant-cut diamonds and featuring suspended diamond drops. The glitzy showpiece was designed by jeweler Slim Barrett—who’d also designed pieces for Princess Diana and Mick Jagger. The crown was later exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum’s “100 Tiaras, Past and Present” show.

Now the coronet is going up for auction. On December 5, U.K. auction house Bonhams hopes to rake in between £18,000 and £25,000 for the tiara, which has been dubbed “East of Paris.”
